Looking to continue your education after certification and develop new skills? Whether you’ve just joined the world of scuba diving or already have several dives under your belt, PADI’s Advanced Open Water Diver course has something for all Open Water certified divers.

At Kona Diving Company, we combine the PADI Advanced Open Water class with the PADI Peak Performance Buoyancy Specialty. Controlled buoyancy and understanding how to move efficiently through the water are cornerstones of safe diving practices. With only one additional training dive, you get both certifications (6 dives total) and another step on the journey toward buoyancy mastery. Regardless of your experience, there’s always ways to improve and our instructors will cater the class to your specific needs.

These courses are a combination of eLearning classwork and practical diving coursework. Students begin their class with two Peak Performance Buoyancy dives (resulting in a specialty certification upon successful completion). After working on efficient BCD handling, proper weighting and trim, effective fin techniques and controlled ascents and descents, students move on to the Advanced Open Water class. Students then complete a required Deep Dive (anything greater than 60 ft.) and Underwater Navigation dive, but then get to choose two additional Adventure Dives to complete. Options include Fish Identification, Underwater Naturalist, Enriched Air Nitrox, Night Diver and more! Students who choose Night Diver can even complete their training on our famous Manta Ray Night Dive.

Not only does Advanced Open Water help develop your interests (Are you a critter nerd? Gear geek? Conservationist? Thrill seeker?), it also helps develop your skills by continued teaching of safe dive habits and practices. The more you learn, the more kinds of dives you can safely and comfortably do!

Before you Book

Scuba diving requires a minimum level of health and fitness. Chronic health conditions, certain medications and/or recent surgery may require you to get written approval from a physician before diving. Review the diver medical questionnaire before enrolling in any scuba course.

IMPORTANT SAFETY REMINDER

Scuba diving is an extreme sport and restrictions must be adhered to before, during and after to mitigate potential health risks. Post-diving, this includes flying, going to altitude, freediving and other activities that could contribute to Decompression Sickness.
