Quick Details
The PADI Divemaster class is the first step toward being a dive professional. As a divemaster you’ll be able to supervise scuba diving activities, assist with scuba classes and help guide people through the incredible underwater world!
The divemaster course has several components including bookwork, skills practice and course assisting. At Kona Diving Company, we conduct our divemaster course like an internship during which students receive real on-the-job training assisting divers and observing real–not simulated– classes. We find this valuable time out in the field truly helps prepare our students for the realities of being a dive professional.
The exact time of the program varies from student to student, but typically lasts a minimum of 6 weeks. Our program can be accommodated around a work schedule and done at the students pace, but we encourage our students to dive as often as they are able. The cost of the course is $1,500 (plus tax) and the cost of the required PADI learning materials is $441.30 (plus tax).
Students must be able to arrange their own housing and transportation to be eligible for our program. Prospective candidates considering relocating to Kona are encouraged to thoroughly research the cost of living and availability of housing before making any decisions or commitments. Hawaii is an incredible place to live and work, but getting established here can potentially be challenging.
All prospective candidates are required to interview and join us for a checkout dive before being accepted into our program. We want to ensure that it’s a good fit on both sides.
